Dr. Sherry Helgoe
Your Partner in Achieving Personal and Professional Success
Welcome! With over 25 years of experience as a clinician, I specialize in helping adults and couples navigate the complexities of modern life. My approach is grounded in Positive Psychology and Solution-Focused techniques, ensuring that our work together is both effective and transformative.
I am proud to hold a Doctorate in Psychology, which underpins my extensive knowledge and expertise in the field. Additionally, I am dually licensed as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). This extensive training allows me to offer a comprehensive understanding of mental health and therapeutic practices, enabling me to help you overcome your current challenges. My expertise spans individual therapy, couples counseling, career guidance, and business coaching, all tailored to meet your unique needs.
In addition to my private practice, I have been a professor for 17 years at Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology, including 5 years of teaching graduate classes on Zoom. This dual role allows me to stay at the forefront of psychological research while imparting knowledge to future therapists. My teaching and training expertise in Adult Learning Theory ensures that my methods are tailored to how adults learn best—by connecting with relevant materials, leveraging personal experiences, and enhancing self-awareness.
I am also in the process of writing a book, What Went Well. This work delves into the transformative power of group therapy through the stories of seven women as they navigate challenges, foster connection, and uncover their strengths. Drawing on my extensive experience as a clinician, educator, and participant in an international group therapy experience, the book offers readers a profound exploration of growth, healing, and the shared human journey.
Beyond my professional life, I love to travel, explore the mountains, attend concerts, garden, and spend time with my dogs. My love of family and friends is central to who I am, and I bring this warmth and dedication into my practice, ensuring a supportive and empathetic environment for all my clients. ~Stay Well
